Listening as a mode of becoming porous. Listen as vulnerability. As improvisation. As a mediated process. As positionality. As the distance comes close is a longform improvisation and reflection on deep time, myths and materiality. Sounds recorded in Spetses, Greece, and presented in the form of a sound installation and a concert at the Insular Animisms residency, are now reshaped as a new textural journey. Underwater ecologies. Atmospheric phenomena. Bats. Boats. Insects. Wind. Trees. Metal surfaces. Handling noise and tech glitches. Electromagnetic vibrations. Raw and processed sounds. The island of spetses as resonant body.

Insular Animisms was an artistic residency on the island of Spetses, Greece in 2026. The residency was curated by Eva Vaslamatzi, coordinated by Simone Niarou, and organised as part of the Anargyros Art Residency, Foundation of Anargyrios & Korgialenios School of Spetses.
