Almost Sound Diary
Web-archive / augmented sound diary
Almost Sound Diary aims at transcending the exotic tale of a journey through Rio de Janeiro by allowing and acknowledging the affordances of participation. The project explores the intimate connection between daily life and sound, and the use of sound as a reflexive tool. I invited people met while in Rio to collaboratively instigate different forms of listening and recording. Through this process I encountered and articulated place.
The project is a web-based archive that collects a series of experiences from a two-month research residency with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in Brazil. The research residency took place from mid-May to mid-July 2013. It was supervised by Rodrigo Cicchelli Velloso and Samuel Araújo and funded by the Santander Mobility Scholarship.
